4. How we process your data on this website
4.1 Server log files
When you access this website, our hosting provider automatically collects and stores the information your browser transmits in server log files: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, host name of the accessing device, time of the request and IP address. This data is not combined with other sources. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and security of our website). This data is stored for an adequate period of time, after which the data is deleted or anonymised.
4.2 Hosting
This website is hosted by Variomedia AG, August-Bebel-Straße 68, 14482 Potsdam, Germany, which processes the data in 3.1 on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The servers are located in Germany. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
4.3 Cookies
This website uses cookies only where necessary for its technical operation and security (for example cookies set by the contact form or by Cloudflare). These strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and § 25 (2) TDDDG and do not require consent. Our web analytics runs without cookies (see 3.7). Should we introduce cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will obtain your prior consent under § 25 (1) TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR beforehand.
4.4 Contact by form or e-mail
If you contact us via the contact form or by e-mail, the data you provide (name, company, phone, e-mail and your message) is stored to process and answer your enquiry. Legal basis: your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR where given via the form; Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contract-related enquiries; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We retain this data until your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.
4.5 SSL/TLS certificate and e-mail protection
This website uses services of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): the SSL/TLS certificate securing the connection to this site, and an e-mail address obfuscation feature protecting published addresses against automated collection. Cloudflare thereby processes connection data including your IP address. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. This may involve a transfer to the USA (see section 4). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place.
4.6 Job applications management system
Our Career page integrates an external applicant management system operated by pludoni GmbH, Pillnitzer Landstrasse 73b, 01326 Dresden (the Empfehlungsbund/BMS platform, bms.empfehlungsbund.de), which processes applicant data on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Legal basis: § 26 (1) BDSG and Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR; for any special categories of data contained in your documents (e.g. health or severe-disability information), your consent under Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR. The listings load via a widget from bms.empfehlungsbund.de, transmitting your IP address to the provider when the Career page opens. The widget provider deletes applicant data after a retention period of six months, unless you consent to longer storage or statutory retention periods apply. Applicant data is stored within the EU.

4.7 Web analytics (Mamoto)
We use Matomo, hosted on our own servers, to analyse how visitors use our website. It runs without cookies, so no information is stored on or read from your device, and IP addresses are anonymized in the process. The data is not passed to third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You can object to this analysis at any time (section 2).
5. Transfers to third countries
Hosting (Variomedia) and web analytics (Matomo) run in Germany, and applicant data is stored within the EU. The only service that may involve a transfer to a third country is Cloudflare (USA), for the SSL/TLS certificate and e-mail protection. Such a transfer takes place only on the basis of appropriate safeguards under Art. 46 GDPR, in particular the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
